How brands grow with us

Three stages, and you only move when the volume justifies it. Nothing here asks you to commit before you know the product sells.

Stage one · launch

Tubs

Prove it sells

Ten tubs. Not a pallet, not a print run, not a five thousand unit commitment. You can put a real branded product in front of real customers for under two hundred pounds and find out whether anyone wants it.

The trade off is cost per gram. You are buying a stock tub, a lid, a scoop and a printed label, and paying for someone to apply it. That is the price of being able to start with ten.Printed label applied
Stage two · momentum

Pouches

Where the margin is

Once it is selling, pouches change the economics. Printed film replaces the tub, the lid and the label, and there is no labelling step, so the cost per gram falls by roughly half.

Seven hundred is a genuinely low minimum for fully printed packaging. Most manufacturers will not talk to you below five thousand.

And it does not have to be one design. Digital printing lets a single run carry five different products at 140 each, so launching a five product range costs a fifth of what five separate runs would. Build a split run →
This is not a sticker on a bag. Your artwork is printed into the film itself, edge to edge, front and back. It is your pack, not our pack with your label on it.Fully printed film

Stick packs

Single serve

One dose per stick, tear top, straight into a bottle. They are for sampling, for selling single servings across a counter, and for going into subscription boxes.

Most brands run these alongside pouches rather than instead of them. A pouch is the month, a stick is the trial.

Splits five ways too. Five products at a thousand each, which is how a sampler range stops being a stock gamble. Build a sachet split run →

The number that matters

Take bovine collagen, and look at what a gram actually costs you at each stage.

Your very first pouch order beats your best possible tub price. Not by a little. That is the whole argument for moving up when you are ready, and it is why we would rather you started small on tubs than not started at all.

Every format keeps its own price ladder, so buying tubs while you build up to pouches costs you nothing.

The Packer

Not sure which one

Ask The Packer

Six questions and he will tell you which format actually suits you, what it costs at your volume, and whether you are ready for it.

He will happily tell you to start small. If you have not sold the product yet, or you need stock in a fortnight, he will point you at ten tubs rather than a print run. That is usually the right answer and it saves everyone a bad first order.

Five products for a fifth of the outlay

Fully printed pouches used to mean committing to 700 of one design. Digital printing changed that. One print run can now carry five different products at 140 each, so you can launch a range on the capital a single product used to cost.

The old way
5 × 700

Five products meant five separate print runs and 3,500 pouches of stock before you had sold one.

Split run
5 × 140

Digital printing lets one 700 run carry five designs. Same five products, 700 pouches, one fifth of the capital.

Sachets too
5 × 1,000

The 5,000 sachet minimum splits the same way, so a five product sampler range stops being a stock gamble.

Each design is printed and filled as its own batch, with a £25 setup charge per design covering artwork origination and proofing. A split run is still a real order at trade volume. If you are testing a single idea rather than launching a range, start at ten tubs instead.

The bit nobody plans for

Where is all this going to live?

One product is fine. Seven hundred pouches is fourteen boxes, and fourteen boxes fits in a spare room without anyone complaining.

A brand is not one product though. By the time you are running a proper range, the numbers look different.

700 pouches, one product14 boxes
Ten products in the range140 boxes
That isFour pallets

Four pallets is not a spare room. And somebody still has to pick, pack and post every single order that comes in, which for most people starting a brand means you, at ten at night.

Outsourcing fulfilment costs less than most people assume. Worth finding out the actual number before deciding you cannot afford it, because it is often the thing that makes the jump from tubs to pouches possible a year earlier than it otherwise would be.

EZ3PL

A fulfilment company that can hold your stock and ship your orders, so you can spend your time on marketing rather than on packing tape.

Discounted rates for Make My Supps customers. Tell them you buy from us.

Find out what fulfilment costs

EZ3PL is a separate company with its own terms, but the two businesses are under common ownership. That is public on Companies House, so we would rather tell you than have you find it.

What you get

Every order, whatever the size or format.

  • The statutory information for your product, set out ready for you to build your artwork around
  • Your branding printed onto the label or into the film, to artwork you have approved
  • Batch code and best before on every unit
  • A scoop in every tub and pouch
  • A proof before anything prints, and a full refund if you cancel before you approve it

Order more, pay less

Every product has its own price ladder. The rate is set by how many of that product you order, not by your total order value.

Tubs break at 20, 30, 40, 50 and 100. Pouches at 1,500, 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000. Stick packs at 10,000 upwards.

Who this is for

Anyone who wants their own supplement brand without a five thousand unit minimum order.

Personal trainers

Sell your own branded product to the clients you already have, without committing to a pallet.

Gyms and studios

Put your name on the shelf behind the counter and keep the margin in house.

Clinics and practitioners

Supply your own labelled product to patients rather than sending them elsewhere.

New brands

Test a product and a price with ten tubs before you commit real money to a production run.

Outgrowing us is the point

When your volumes get past what this makes sense for, we move you across to SimplePack, our contract packing operation on the same site. Same building, same people, proper production runs and your own specification.

Questions

If yours is not here, email orders@makemysupps.co.uk.

Which format should I choose?
If you are not sure, ask The Packer. Six questions and he will tell you which one suits you and whether you are ready for it. He will happily tell you to start small.
Is the pouch printing a label or the actual pack?
The actual pack. Your artwork is printed into the film the pouch is made from, edge to edge, front and back. There is no label, no white margin and no sticker. The same is true of stick packs. Only tubs carry a printed label, because a tub is a stock item we hold and apply your label to.
What is the minimum order?
Tubs start at 10 of any single product. Pouches at 700 and stick packs at 5,000, because each is one film print run.

That run does not have to be a single design. Digital printing lets us split it up to five ways, so 700 pouches can be five products at 140 each, and 5,000 sachets can be five at 1,000 each. There is a setup charge per design.
Can I launch more than one product at once?
Yes, and it is a great deal cheaper than it used to be. Five separate 700 pouch runs means 3,500 pouches and five times the capital. A split run gets you the same five products for 700 pouches in total, roughly a fifth of the outlay, plus a setup charge per design.

Build one on the pouch or sachet split run pages.
Why is a pouch cheaper than a tub?
Printed film replaces the tub, the lid and the label, and there is no labelling step. The trade off is the minimum order and a six week lead time. Even at 700, the smallest pouch run we do, the cost per gram comes in below our best hundred tub price.
Which flavours can I order?
Unflavoured only at the moment, in every format. Peach, Lemon and Mango are shown on some product pages so you can see what is coming, but they cannot be ordered yet. Matcha and the plant proteins are unflavoured products and are not part of that range.
Where am I going to keep it all?
One product is manageable. 700 pouches is fourteen boxes and that fits in a spare room. A ten product range at the same quantity is 140 boxes, or four pallets, and that is a different problem.

If you do not have the space, or you do not want to spend your evenings packing orders, a third party fulfilment company can hold your stock and ship your orders for you. EZ3PL do this and offer discounted rates to our customers. They are a separate company, under common ownership with SimplePack.
Are prices with or without VAT?
All prices shown exclude VAT. Food supplements are standard rated in the UK, so VAT is added at checkout.
How long does it take?
Tubs ship in days from filled stock. Pouches and stick packs are six weeks from artwork approval, because the film has to be printed before anything can be filled. Both clocks start when you approve artwork, not when you order.
Is a scoop included?
Yes, in every tub and pouch, at no extra cost. Stick packs are single serve so they do not need one.
What goes on the pack?
We supply the ingredient list, allergen information, nutrition declaration, net quantity, storage conditions and best before for the product you have ordered. You add your brand name, logo and any other text you want. You are the brand owner and remain responsible for compliance of the finished product you sell.
Can I cancel?
Yes, at any point before you approve your artwork, for a full refund. Once approved, we originate and print and the order can no longer be cancelled.
Why are printed quantities plus or minus 10%?
Printed film runs never land on an exact count. Set up wastes material and the run stops on length rather than units. A 700 pouch order delivers between 630 and 770, and that counts as a correct delivery. Plan your own stock on the lower figure. Tubs are not affected, because there is no print run.
What happens when I outgrow this?
We move you across to SimplePack, our contract packing business on the same site, where you get proper production runs and your own specification.
